Essential to the port?
I must be living under a rock, I thought it was just to make commutes shorter.

When the bridge fell it was categorized as essential to the port and the movement of goods and people... Idk if they truck stuff across it or what but it was pitched to Congress that they needed a new bridge ASAP or the port would die.
