At least progress is being made.
They need that bridge.

I am calling it right now. This bridge is going to take 5+ years and cost 3+ billion to rebuild because the people in charge both on a state and federal level are screwing around and by the time it is done alt routes will already be made in the port or the shipping to the port itself is going to change.

More than likely.
But they need that bridge for a lot of reasons.
The company that hit it will have to pay for it, right?

You would think that the company who destroyed it would but..... there is a limit in the amount of insurance and the Biden Admin is stuck between bankrupting the shipping and insurance company (trade-wise detrimental) or paying for it with taxpayer dollars... They have already been pushing to spend $2 billion in taxpayer funds for it.
While that port is at least now important its two biggest things are coal exports (a rapidly dying industry) and a roll-on roll-off car port. However, with Georgia becoming a huge player in EVs and vehicles overall they currently have the second largest port for roll on roll off and are expanding it to become the largest. Baltimore Port then just takes another L.
Out of all the ports in the US I have had to learn about for work Baltimore is the only one that seems to actually have a massive issue moving forward because of what it is so dependent on and how with all the onshoring of tech and manufacturing buildout being in the south and the southwest Baltimore isn't a logical port to use anymore

Interesting, but the bridge is for driving.
For people to get across faster, right?
Not just for the port?

When the bridge fell it was categorized as essential to the port and the movement of goods and people... Idk if they truck stuff across it or what but it was pitched to Congress that they needed a new bridge ASAP or the port would die.

Essential to the port?
I must be living under a rock, I thought it was just to make commutes shorter.
