I've paid larger invoices but sometimes with fees as high as 0.4 or 0.5% which I think it's too much.
Makes me think I'll write another post about that, wallets should have max fee feature.
Breez has a max fee feature, but payments often fail when you turn it on. Best way around this is to run your own node and strategically open channels to destinations that you often send to. You'll also be able to set a max fee by using a wallet like Zeus with your own node. If you go the custodial route, you can always just use Cash App which pays all the fees for you.
It depends on a bunch of different things. What wallet are you using? Custodial or non-custodial? Some custodial wallets tack on extra fees. Zebedee adds on an additional 1% fee to the routing fees and IIRC Blue Wallet adds on an extra 0.3% fee. Also, depends on the route that was taken from your wallet to the destination. Some nodes charge high routing fees.
I have paid up to 1.6M sats and the fee around 1000 sats. I have used Blue wallet, Muun, Wallet of Satoshi and Muun has the highest fee while WoS has the lowest fee.
Muun has the highest fee cause every lightning payment received is swapped onchain. Blue Wallet adds on an extra 0.3% fee in addition to the routing fee I think. Wallet of Satoshi has no extra fees and is the 2nd most connected node on the LN, so that's why the fees are low and often 0.
Cctip only charges a 1 sat fee to send out any size transaction on the lightning network just an FYI. BTC lightning is listed under "SATS" on there. Most Ive ever paid was 900 sats and that was when sending a 400 USD transaction out of bluewallet.
