These kind of multi billion dollar science projects are fascinating to me. Even though the potential use is still decades away, or may even never come, it still feels like better use of public money than funding the military complex.
Pictures are mind bogging, in any event. Reminds me of what i saw when visiting the LHC during its construction phase and people could still go down to see the experiments. It felt like looking at underground cathedrals in terms of size and splendor...
