This wouldn't consolidate, it would just add another layer of beeps.  It would also add another device to carry and charge.  something else to check firmware on and all of that.  It solves a very narrow use case.   

Would it consolidate or just provide more distractions. 
Sure, if I wasnt using a cellphone I might need a pager, but I dont need both.
