The Vancouver community continues to onboard merchants at a pace unseen outside of El Salvador. In the past four weeks, nine merchants were added to the map:
  • Two bars
  • Two fast food restaurants
  • Two dispensaries
  • One liquor store
  • One print shop
  • One cell phone repair shop
I now worry that we might not have enough Bitcoiners to actually regularly patronize all these businesses, and wonder how we can help people earn more sats (and less fiat), so they have some to spend.
The Bitdevs group is keeping track of all the businesses here and on BTCMap. Bit shoutouts to CoinOS, which is spearheading much of the effort.
This example is why people will want to come to Vancouver as a "Bitcoin tourist". Come enjoy food, drink, recreation and more, do it all with Bitcoin over lightning.
This is the way!

Love the proof of work here! It is good to regularly visit and ask to pay in bitcoin, or else the clerks/owner will forget how to accept.

I think it is important to support these small entrepreneurs who want to fight and get ahead...👍 and who clearly woke up and realized that accepting payments in Cryptocurrencies is the future!! Day by day and increasingly faster, the world is moving towards tomorrow and understanding that fiat money is useless...

Looks like Vancouver is the best place after El Salvador for Bitcoin Adoption.

I think there are quite a few Bitcoiners in Vancouver. Im only worried about print shop and cellphone repair shop. They don't get so many customers. So getting them for Bitcoin is also little more difficult.. restaurant and liquor shops are the best for finding more bitcoin ready customers..

This is the order it should happen. Merchants accept bitcoin because they want bitcoin, not because people hassle them to accept it.

CoinOS knows how to get things done, more adoption is coming!
