i had a LN wallet. the gubment scared my providers out of operation.

i'm gonna travel to El Salvador later this year. i'd like to spend some sats while i'm there. i don't want to use CashApp.

how can i get a KYC free LN provider from the US today? i have a VPN.

gosh... i feel dumb asking these questions.

For a spending wallet in El Salvador, I think Blink is good. Even that you have a limit for non-KYC, you can still fund it from any other wallet and use it as a daily spending wallet, especially in El Salvador where the internet infrastructure is not very good and you depend a lot of mobile connections.

I think for most Bitcoin services 1% is the sweet spot. It seems substantial enough from a business perspective, without being offensive to the customer (like credit cards or Coinbase).

Competition could drive that down eventually, but superior reliability, functionality, and service could allow a business to maintain a premium. I think most users trivialize the difference between .1% and 1% anyway -- I know I do.

I'm not a huge fan of subscriptions. I probably would for Alby, but generally I find memberships to just feel like a financial burden, in a psychological sense. Like, I can afford another $5/month service, but I already have so many, it makes me feel like a slave. In some ways it feels worse than debt, because it's in perpetuity and doesn't diminish. I recognize that it is more stable income for the business.

True, I didn't know about this wallet, just recently I started using Zeus Wallet because Darthcoin recommended it and it's at the top of that ladder, and now Shock Wallet appears that I haven't heard anything about it...

I do not "recommend" any wallet in particular. Why? Because I always say:

use not just one wallet app but at least 2-3. Reliability is important.
each wallet app have its specific features that could help you in your unique use cases
that ladder shows how a newbie baby in bitcoin start learning. If you try to skip steps, depending on you knowledge lebel, you could break a leg. Jumping straight to top is not recommended for total noobs. You must learn to "walk"... and climb that ladder.
the position of each wallet app in that ladder is according to their specific features and functions, level of complexity, and also the user knowledge level.

It wasn't clear to me.

They were withdrawing from the app stores and signaled to their customers that they were suspending service, but people were also saying it would still work as long as you downloaded Phoenix somewhere other than an app store.
