Western leaders at the Swiss peace summit rejected Vladimir Putin's framework for a ceasefire, which demanded that Ukraine cede occupied territories and abandon its NATO ambitions. Key points:
  • Ukraine and its Western allies insisted on maintaining Ukraine's territorial integrity as the basis for any peace deal, rejecting Putin's demands.[1][2][4]
  • German Chancellor Olaf Scholz called Putin's proposal "unserious" and accused him of seeking "imperialist conquest of territories."[1]
  • French President Emmanuel Macron said peace cannot mean "surrender of Ukraine."[1]
  • UK PM Rishi Sunak accused Putin of "spinning a phoney narrative about his willingness to negotiate."[1]
  • EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said "freezing the conflict" with Russian troops occupying Ukraine is "a recipe for future wars."[1]
The summit concluded with the status quo remaining, as Ukraine continues demanding Russia withdraw from all occupied areas before peace talks, which Putin is unlikely to accept.[1][2][3][4]

this territory is moderated
Neither of these two parties is going to agree in the short term I think, both are looking for a peaceful surrender by the other bloc, and both blocs are too proud for this to happen "peacefully"

Russia can’t annex all of Ukraine. Ukraine has lost some territory. Can they get it back? Very unlikely
reply
I don't think Ukraine can recover it if with all the economic and military aid they have received they have not managed to do it, I don't think Ukraine will do it if the current plan remains the same, what could happen as a consequence of this? I don't know, but it doesn't look like things are going to get better.

Right move. As history shows, Russians ever only use case fires to regroup and then attack again.
