I heard a lot of media inputs about a potential attack in a cricket match. There were videos with threat messages from ISIS were circulating in news a few days ago.

They need to fix this shit! Security is not political. Unfortunately, the government won't do anything seriously, except try to impinge on our privacy, until an attack happens. Then they will overreact with inflationary theft. Both sides talk, neither acts. Not really.

It's absolutely insane. Yes we need some immigration but there are so many people that want to get into our country the right way, there is zero reason why we shouldn't be more selective in finding people who share our cultural values.

The article from NBC News reports that eight men from Tajikistan with suspected ties to ISIS were arrested by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in New York, Philadelphia, and Los Angeles over the weekend. These individuals had entered the United States via the southern border and had passed criminal background checks. The FBI had been monitoring them due to intelligence indicating a potential terrorist threat from central Europe. The arrests were made on immigration charges, and the men are currently detained and facing removal proceedings[1][3][4].

I heard this on local talk radio earlier. Call me jaded but I suspicious of how real this "terrorism" angle is. Jaded due to the long history of fake plots foiled by US agencies to justify their invasion of human liberty.

Fear is the common thread. Find the people's fear and you find the mechanism for control. The fear is almost always irrational but does have some deep seated basis. This is what politics has come to. Power gained by fear. Those that spin the scariest tales win the day.
The oceans are going to boil. They are gonna come for your job. They are gonna blow up the store down the street. They are gonna destroy democracy. Whatever the story, the message is be afraid. You can't stop this. You have to give me power and I will protect you from X.
How often do these "leaders" lead people back to themselves? Almost never. Do they ever suggest each person has the most power over their own destiny? That if each person would focus on living their life for a purpose and goal that the world would just get better around them? If we would build relationships with our neighbors and seek to find common ground we would be stronger? If we would peacefully agree to leave each other alone on areas of disagreement that would be better?
Nah, fear works better. Democracy will never lead us out of this. Democracy is the god that failed. Its a false god and the truth is those in power know this. They are telling a "noble lie". They know what they are doing. The smart ones at least.

Hearing about this event and how the people on the radio were talking about it actually inspired my post on lenses along with a conversation with my neighbor. The skeptical lens or the pattern lens comes in handy when hearing about things from the news. I find myself rarely worked up about things like this any more.

Let everybody enter the country from the south while heavily filtering workers who want to enter legally. Frame some of them to commit terrorist attacks (i.e., typical FBI playbook), preferably Russians or Muslims to scare the masses more of imminent threat (ever better if coming from Stan countries since they are Russian and Muslim), ramp-up surveillance and crack down on civil liberties in the name of national security, rinse and repeat every 20 years
