How many people know and like SN but only visit occasionally.
Like e.g. the difference between daily active users and monthly active users.
Probably not very many.

I agree and that's why I'm proposing this idea. People is busy and a reminder in their preferred medium could help bring more traffic to SN from monthly (and yearly) active users.
