Homeowners come from various age groups and backgrounds. Additionally, homeownership rates are a good indicator of a population’s economic well-being.
So with that thought back in my mind I lurked around a bit and got some surprising and a bit funny results.
Here's the first one

1. Females are buying more Houses than Males in America

2. Average Median Age of All buyers have increased considerably in US.

3. Midwest of US has the highest of homeownership rates.

When I compare these rates or other data to my highly dense country demographically, US is doing pretty much better than India.
If these comparisons can anyhow relate, I want to know the real current housing market situation in US.
Also, if someone can tell me why are Single Females buying more Houses than Single Males? Is there some kind of crisis running over single males? Are they not getting paid as much as their counterparts? What's happening there?😜
Here in India Males are way ahead than Females in big buys!! Don't take me wrong here, please. We are a country who are traditionally more inclined to joint families and when and who to buy houses is a family decision rather than a single man or woman.

Precisely what I was thinking.
Took me a while to realize not only does it make some women richer, it also makes men poorer and more docile.

Anecdotally: men are easier to waste their savings on useless consumer crap.
If a hobby includes buying expensive shiny stuff it's way more likely to be male dominated. Cars be it oldtimers or sports cars or tinkering: all men. Life savings into espresso machines: all men. The audiophiles subreddit: all men. Stock market options gambling: all men. Building PCs and stuff: male dominated. Scuba diving or a pilot license: mostly men. etc etc

Expensive jewelry, expensive clothes, expensive shoes, expensive bags, sun glasses... There's more than enough "Girl-stuff" that women waste more than enough money on.
Source: I've a mom and sister.
reply
Both of you( @tomlaies and @Fabs ) are right in your respective places.
But according to data, Females are buying more Houses than Males in America.
reply
Oh I was simply pointing out that women have more than enough options to waste money on as well, I couldn't care less about who of the two genders buys a house more often. 🌞
reply
I don't agree. Women love Gold and Diamonds and they have established their monopoly on them. But men can only boast that they have only one monopoly for buys and that is men's 'shaving brush'.
Women are like, they can wear everything that men can but men can't wear a lot of women items. Idk, but men should try to wear some of them. They may look nice.
I wear shorts and jeans, but I never encroach manity. I think when men wear one specific clothes for woman, idk why they feel embarrassed??

Divorced females? That child support check needs to be spent somewhere.

You can say. But I don't think so.

Wow! A reply from the guru and in Hinglish! Amazing! Just to tell you the truth, there aren't many Indian Stackers here.
So, it would be better if you can just add a comment with translation of your words.

Translation in English — Those who grow or evolve, they become succesful..

I am from India. So I already understand. No need to translate.

You are right.

I think we can play India 🇮🇳 someday.
Maybe, idk but I'd someone's Enlish isn't very good. What else he has as choice. Even our English is ok ok. It would be better if an auto translator added to SN?
reply
I agree with you. If this happens then many Indians will also be able to learn a lot from SN and share their knowledge.
reply
As in India most of d people in America registered his property on his better half😊😊😊
reply
No, people don't register their property on someone else's name in US if that money was solely earned by them.

May be you are right. but I told according to the data.

The crisis for single males is that we’ve neglected to actually be men! Take charge, be strong, have manners, be a leader, fight when you have to, slay the dragon and get the girl!!

What do you think the right age for a man to purchase a house?
reply
What do you think about the right age of females go buy a house?
As single, I bought my first house when I was only 21. Thanks to my mom and dad for investing on my name from my early childhood. When I cashed out that investment. It was large enough to but me a house in my town

Then it's not adequate to say that you bought the house, your parents did.
reply
No. Not adequate as my parents were saving that money for my marriage expenses and I decided to remain single.
Great question. There’s a lot of variables there obviously. I had my first house at 23 years old. Bought it for $300k back in 2009.
reply
So, you're 38 years old now!!! Thanks for confirming. 😆
reply
Hahaha. In Indian style sahi pakde hai.
reply
Nope. I identify as a 25 yr old! 😂

looking back, is there anything you would change/advise/etc.?

I would’ve stayed in the house longer to build more equity into it. I’ve made money and got bigger houses every time I’ve bought one. I will say, you don’t NEED a huge house. There are so many rooms that don’t even get used. I wanted a big yard and got that and then my kids are too old now to actually enjoy apart from doing a little basketball and putting from the green I installed. I spend more time keeping up on it than anything.
Find a house that suites your needs in a city that you could see yourself living in for a long time with people that you can do life with. Something that won’t break the bank which is hard now with the interest rates.
I would’ve also set aside some of the equity after selling each house for my kids so that they would be prepared for this world.
reply
Wow. Congratulations.

Uh. I'm not heterosexual, and I'm a bit of an outlier due to my circumstances, but I was able to buy a condo in 2019 due to the passing of my mother. I used the money from her life insurance policy as the down payment. I was 36 at the time.
reply
I can understand.

This best resonates with me. I guess. Being single and a woman and from India, I want to answer you about it.
You may be right or wrong about US, I don't know too much of there. But think you're wrong about India. Isn't it true that most Indian man buy houses on the names of their women just to save stamp duty, So making women legal owners of houses. What do you say now?
reply
Isn't it true that most Indian man buy houses on the names of their women just to save stamp duty.
You are absolutely right. But my question is "What percentage of girls purchase their own houses in india"?
reply
They don't need to as you said WE live and prefer joint families. So much so that we can be around 20 people living in 3 or 4 BHK apartments.
Where are our living standards? Give it a thought. Say something about overcrowded houses of Indian big cities.
reply
We live together because we love our family and respect our elder. We want to live with parents until their last breathe. Because in childhood they loved us more than their lives.
reply
Probably because single men are gambling on crypto and nfts trying to get rich to attract women, whereas single women are concerned they will not be able to afford a home if they wait too long or find a suitable mate that can provide for a family because single men are losers degen gambling on crypto.
This is my completely uninformed guess.
The comments so far show many reasons to explain why that is, except the most obvious reason : men don't want to buy a house? I don't. Opportunity cost vs bitcoin, maintenance, huge attack surface (governmental attacks, etc).
reply
Men in the US have less help. Women tend to be showered with things they need by friends, family, and especially their parents.
In India, women are seen as property.
According to careindia.org, Indian women face many types of gender inequality, including:
  • Discrimination: Women are often discriminated against in education, employment, political positions, and health.
  • Traditional gender roles: Many Indians support traditional gender roles in families, such as women taking care of children.
  • Infant mortality: Girls have a 61% higher infant mortality rate than boys.
  • Education: Only two-thirds of girls between the ages of 6 and 17 attend school, while three-quarters of boys do.
Conclusion: Culture differences.
