How do you like the TWSBI? I felt like it wrote too wet. What is the red one? Sailor or pilot?

reply

Platinum Century #3776 Bourgogne.

TWSBI needs to be wet to make up for the scratchy.

Their nib is not as smooth as others. I really like pilot nibs. Bach also made a bunch of good nibs. The vintage nibs are best, though. I dont know what it is, maybe the metal composite is better, but they write a lot smoother and are more flexible.

reply

Oh, yes. There used to be a guy in New Hampshire that fixed, ground and smoothed nibs. I think he retired. Richard Bender. His wife wrote the most awesome notes on vintage post cards.

reply

It is a dying trade. I know there are some guys who grind nibs at the pen shows.

Dude, we don't teach cursive. Today's kids can't read the fucking Constitution or Magna Carta!

reply

Yeah, I know. The younger generation knows how to use iphones though lol

reply

Yeah, that is the connection now.

reply

Have you ever gone to one? SO MANY PENS!

my mother uses her iPhone better, and more usefully than her construction engineering granddaughter. 🤣🤣🤣. And she knows old school shorthand!

used to go to the SF show. It was awesome!
