I live only using BTC.
So my answer will be: whenever I need to pay a small amount (bellow 1M sats) I will use LN. Larger amounts - onchain or using MPP or split payments on LN. Is not about that LN is not capable to do a larger payment, it is, but nowadays are few routing nodes that will have a decent fee and enough liquidity and good peers to forward my payment.

So I will strongly suggest to new LN users to not try larger amounts, your payment will fail or will have a higher fee than onchain. We still have greedy LN operators.

I know this is not a polite question…
But do you live only with bitcoin because you get paid with bitcoin on the work you do or you are able to live with the bitcoin you purchased years ago ?

reply

I don't mind to answer this kind of question.
I live only using BTC because:

  • I want to ... FUCK THE BANKS AND GOVS
  • I start stacking in 2012
  • I start earning BTC (work for BTC / be paid in BTC) from 2017 - this is the BEST way to get BTC !
  • in 2020 I decided to retire and not working anymore, just writing bitcoin guides and help noobs, so yes, practically I am retired on BTC.

Anybody that could have the option to be paid in BTC: DO IT!

That’s the plan :)

What is spending? LN is only for collecting cheap sats and once it's a big enough UTXO close that to the main chain and get back to stacking

reply

That’s a nice way of using it :)

I've been recommending it to my new stacker friends who I want to get off exchanges, when they see they can buy $1 worth of bitcoin they feel its de-risked and then I say get to your 1 million sats and then lock it in your "vauld" and try and gamify it for them, works for some

What exactly is an anonymous prepaid Visa? Can it be used in a physical store?

reply

In the US yes.

You have to add it to Apple Pay. And then you just use it when you pay for stuff with your phone.

We recommend testing out a lower limit one first.

  1. Add it to Apple Pay.
  2. Go to store
  3. Use it to pay via phone

Possibly works with Android Pay or Google Pay as well. 🙃

reply

Ah, I see, thanks. It would probably be better to mention on your site which country your offers are for and can be used in. I'm not in the US, for example.

reply

That’s a great suggestion!

reply

Nice! Could you please make the email part optional when I want to support the store?

reply

Working on it! But it’s needed to deliver the cards for now 🙃

Did you know we have a promo going for a $10 refund so if the order that came in is you. You just got a gift card and $10 back. We will email the buyer so if it’s you, congrats!
