I recommend cashing in your SN profited sats for gift cards using the Bitcoin company. Keep the circular sat economy going and feed the fiat beast a little less. Buy some groceries with sats, it's fun.
Buy prepaid Visa cards with bitcoin and spend them almost anywhere.
YOU ARE LITERALLY GOING BACK TO USE VISA AND FIAT. That, right there is NOT Bitcoin adoption.
"The Bitcoin Company" is actually a VISA company... not talking also about tracking your spending behavior...
You are literally supporting merchants to keep accepting fiat over VISA and not Bitcoin. We will NEVER EVER have Bitcoin adoption using these. The goal is to convince as many merchants you can to accept DIRECTLY BTC.

No, they aren't issuing cards themselves, they act as a proxy merchant for VISA gift cards issued by some other company.

So in the end they actually sell VISA cards. What's the difference? Is not the final merchants still accepting fiat with these cards?
Let's not hide behind the tree.... let's say the thing as they are.
FFS I can'r believe , I am debating with bitcoiner if merchants should accept BTC or VISA fiat cards ! At this point I really don't know why are we still fighting... let's just use fiat all the way.
FIAT DELENDA EST! If people do not understand the meaning of this... idk know why we are still here.
funny enough the comment comes from a guy that want to "defend" privacy... shilling for use of visa cards... right.

I mean technically - if you are shop that also sells bread, are you bread company? Don't think so.
And there is Bitcoin economy involved, proxy merchants can earn BTC for themselves by getting rid of fiat, without using centralized exchanges. TBC is basically proxy merchant company, VISA cards is only one of their products, they sell various gift cards. Same as Bitrefill, for example.
And I don't shill anything. But they can be helpful, when you really need to pay for something and only have sats and no way to pay with sats directly. Let's say, you need to pay for a taxi to the airport in the middle of the night in random foreign country.

If they do not accept sats, I will just walk away.
BITCOIN OR NOTHING.
please do not make me to lower my appreciation to your reputation. I was expecting this kind of comment from other shitcoiners but not from you.

So, I should say to my wife, no more vacations to other countries where I can't pay for everything with sats directly? No travelling to Bitcoin conferences, if I can't pay for everything I need in that city with sats directly?
reply
What about NO vacations at all and stack more sats? BTC conferences are a wasting time and money anyways...

Until I die and can't use them other way than hodl forever? I'm not in my 20s anymore.
BTC conferences are a wasting time and money anyways...
Completely disagree. Baltic Honeybadger, HCPP, BTC Prague has given me a lots of new contacts and oppurtunities in Bitcoin space.
I was intentionally agnostic about where those sats go, but that seems to be working for Sensei.
I'm curious why that's better than buying the groceries with a Fold card and stacking sat rewards. Aren't you basically paying someone else to pay the company fiat?
Personally, I'd rather hold on to my sats until I find someone who is actually accepting payment in bitcoin.
reply
That's true probably better to pay your fiat and stack your sats and bitcoin company isn't paying for those gift cards in bitcoin so at some point they are converting to fiat to pay Kroeger for the gift card. You do get some sats back rewards on your sat purchase but mostly it is a novelty at this point. Maybe if there is enough demand for it companies will learn to sell gift cards in bitcoin and keep the bitcoin on their balance sheet. Also feels like you are kind of dipping your toe into living on bitcoin lifestyle.
I wish I could use fold in Canada but alas they don't offer the debit card and only a few retailers for gift cards. I don't even think you can get a fold account in Canada anymore but I was such an early user they let me stay and spin their wheel every day. Unfortunately, they don't offer 250 sats a week any more for spinning every day so it will take me a decade before I can withdraw again unless they enable lightning. Haha. I am going to wait them out. I and my 17k sats in fold can remain irrational longer than they can remain lightningless.

That's the appealing part to me.

That's exactly our situation with freebitcoin, too.
Can you buy bitcoin through Fold? The spins from DCA'ing can add up reasonably quickly.
