No, I think this is simply the way empires die.

As much as current news pains me, it also makes me incredibly happy that bitcoin exist.
I was "awake" in 2008 and those were frankly much darker days. Although we didn't use the term "CBDC" back then, it was widely assumed their only answer was to institute some sort of global fiat currency.
At that time, we had no escape hatch to deal with this except for the crude use of gold/silver (which I was a stacker). The arrival of bitcoin has truly given us an alternate plan.

I cannot believe this is simple stupidity. There must be a plan, but I doubt it's a good one. Maybe pay down debt with the help of the depreciating dollar, then find a replacement for oil and create a new petro dollar?
