We are witnessing the repeated intellectual fallacy of politics. On Saturday, the House of Representatives in the United States decided to authorize the government to expropriate Russian assets held in American banks and make them available as aid to Ukraine to the tune of 6 billion dollars. This is the next blow to the dollar as the world's reserve currency. The fact that politicians can no longer see the consequences of these actions is a clear indication of who we are dealing with here. The flight from the dollar system is likely to accelerate further.

I cannot believe this is simple stupidity. There must be a plan, but I doubt it's a good one. Maybe pay down debt with the help of the depreciating dollar, then find a replacement for oil and create a new petro dollar?

As much as current news pains me, it also makes me incredibly happy that bitcoin exist.
I was "awake" in 2008 and those were frankly much darker days. Although we didn't use the term "CBDC" back then, it was widely assumed their only answer was to institute some sort of global fiat currency.
At that time, we had no escape hatch to deal with this except for the crude use of gold/silver (which I was a stacker). The arrival of bitcoin has truly given us an alternate plan.
