i am exceptionally sceptical of companies like apple and google, them integrating btc wallets into phones for me is sketchy, i don't trust them as far as i can throw them. but on the flipside, from a public perception point of view, their involvement and recognition of bitcoin gives bitcoin a level of validity to the wider less educated public. and that is a good thing.
Good analysis. It is definitely somewhat of a double edge sword. Sometimes, in a zero sum game there are no improvements, only tradeoffs.
for sure, i don't think we as a bitcoin community can have our cake and eat it yet. but i am bullish on the short and long term outlooks.
i butcher this quote every time i use it but here we go...
'First they ignore you,
then they laugh at you,
then they fight you,
<--- i kinda feel like we might be here sometimes.
then you win.'
First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win.
-Gandhi
It's actually a misattribution. The quote was actually, “First they ignore you. Then they ridicule you. And then they attack you and want to burn you. And then they build monuments to you." It was said by a union organizer named Nicholas Klein a few years before Gandhi was credited with it.
Today i learnt ^this. every days a school day!
In 2014, Bitcoin was valued at $300, but it's now the 9th most valuable asset globally, with the CEO of the world's largest asset manager describing it as "digital gold." Despite skepticism, Bitcoin's value continues to surge. Major companies like Meta and Apple are expected to recognize Bitcoin's significance, with Apple potentially integrating a Bitcoin wallet into iPhones.
