this is πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯ those drums are fantastic. and a digeridoo!!!! lets get it!! i'm loving all these intricate small additions, tiny changes in the percussion, additions of wooden blocks, wobble boards. now we got a total change of tempo and the addition of a metal xylophone (i guess, could have been tube bells, but i reckon its more likely to have been metal xylophone).
these dudes know what they're doing and they look like they enjoy what they're doing, fantastic musicians. great share 0x πŸ‘Š

Shaka Ponk (sometimes abbreviated as SHKPNK) is a French musical band formed in Paris in 2002. They mix different forms of popular music into their songs in addition to world music, although predominantly with an electronic and experimental rock sound. Their lyrics are mostly in English, although they sometimes sing in French and Spanish.
In early 2022, Shaka Ponk announced that they would disband in 2024, after a final album and farewell tour, in order to focus on other musical projects.

thats super interesting, they're using indie rock sounds similar to like franz ferdinand or the kaiser chiefs, but with a much more, "punch in the mouth" feel like a sum 41 pop punk rock stuff. @jessikabtc this may be a bit of you (if i recall your punk and indie preferences correctly.)

The album "Get Rich or Die Tryin'" (2003) was THE soundtrack of my early teens. Here's one of the less known, but better tracks from it. Eminem's guest verse is pure fire IMO: "Shady Records was eighty seconds away from the towers some cowards fucked with the wrong building they meant to hit ours" https://open.spotify.com/track/3ORfa5ilEthp2U0TRcv7kv?si=9ee06efbc53f4e8e

Whiskey and Rain - Michael Ray

https://youtube.com/watch?v=rTxXInO54Z8&pp=ygUQd2hpc2tleSBhbmQgcmFpbg%3D%3D I really enjoy the bassline on this song, if you've got decent speakers or headphones it has some nice touches here and there.
reply
yeah, thats gorgeous 😍 i had some noise cancellers on listening to this in not the office πŸ˜‰ really nice sounds. great submission, cheers πŸ‘Š
reply
I understand, I'm definitely not checking SN in my downtime between projects at work! πŸ˜‰
That song was the one that made a friend of mine realize there was a difference between $20 and $300 headphones! There's a lot of detail that gets lost.
reply
Oh for sure, cheap headphones can make things sound tinny, but decent sound comes from decent sound systems. Get a proper set of headphones and suddenly you can really hear parts of the music youd never have heard before.
reply
Definitely agree! I'm no audiophile, at least not like some I know, but with good headphones I can definitely hear the difference between a good flac that I have in my music library and an MP3. Or worse, the nasty compression you can hear on some songs on YouTube.
reply
Me neither, but I can definitely tell the difference in audio quality between cheapies and quality ones.

got some No Doubt or Hole sound to them, sounds really cool.
reply
I can see that, especially on the instrumental side.
reply
it was her vocals that really solidified it for me. i can hear her going "yeaaaah so glad you could make it" and once i'd heard it i couldn't hear anything else. https://youtu.be/O3dWBLoU--E?si=JXc77mK6aqy-HLLH see what i mean?
reply
Ah yeah, I see where you're coming from. I think it's the fact that the BBH singer can get a little more melodic (those lead-ins on the chorus) that threw me -- I love Courtney, but she's at her best when she's roaring.
reply
yeah i agree with you there, she has a cleaner tone to her voice than courtney. and when courtney goes... damn.. absolute lioness.

some electronic vibes for this friday

always loved this track, got a lot of time for Nero, almost went to see them Live playing at a student union place in cardiff years ago, but then couldn't get there because i went down with the worst kinda flu (the man flu) 🀣. gutted because i reckon they'd have been brilliant live.

In 2014, Bitcoin was valued at $300, but it's now the 9th most valuable asset globally, with the CEO of the world's largest asset manager describing it as "digital gold." Despite skepticism, Bitcoin's value continues to surge. Major companies like Meta and Apple are expected to recognize Bitcoin's significance, with Apple potentially integrating a Bitcoin wallet into iPhones.
reply
i am exceptionally sceptical of companies like apple and google, them integrating btc wallets into phones for me is sketchy, i don't trust them as far as i can throw them. but on the flipside, from a public perception point of view, their involvement and recognition of bitcoin gives bitcoin a level of validity to the wider less educated public. and that is a good thing.
reply
Good analysis. It is definitely somewhat of a double edge sword. Sometimes, in a zero sum game there are no improvements, only tradeoffs.
reply
for sure, i don't think we as a bitcoin community can have our cake and eat it yet. but i am bullish on the short and long term outlooks.
i butcher this quote every time i use it but here we go...
'First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, <--- i kinda feel like we might be here sometimes. then you win.'
reply
First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win.
-Gandhi
reply
It's actually a misattribution. The quote was actually, β€œFirst they ignore you. Then they ridicule you. And then they attack you and want to burn you. And then they build monuments to you." It was said by a union organizer named Nicholas Klein a few years before Gandhi was credited with it.
