The original version already had a little bit of a country lean to it, so I think it transitioned well. That song is from a whole album of covers from different artists under the Big Machine label, and some of them did a really good reimagining of the original. Aaron Lewis from Staind did a country version of Afraid that I really liked, and I wasn't a fan of the original!
Aaron Lewis is really really talented. I love his sound.
Speaking of acoustic stripped backed covers did you ever hear the wasted years cover on the "tribute to the beast" album a tribute to iron maiden? So different and amazing at the same time.
Iron maiden.

I didn't hear that album yet, but I'm going to check it out! I like Iron Maiden, and that acoustic cover sounds great!

Tribute to the beast was fantastic. Machine heads cover of hallowed by thy name was great. But that carved in trees version of wastes years was something else.

I got a chance to listen to a few of the tracks on it, it's very good! I was kind of hoping the whole thing would be acoustic, I was trying to figure out how they would do The Trooper!

Coheed and Cambria's version of the trooper was... Odd, for some reason I couldn't click with it.
Sorry I gave you the wrong album name. It was called maiden heaven.
There seems to have been a bunch of maiden tributes along the years. Tribute to the beast had children of bodom doing hallowed be thy name.

Okay, I'll look at that one!
