Mock Me (grayruby)

This is the first of what I hope will be a series of posts heading into the NFL draft later this month.

Idea is to take a stacker's team and have other stackers submit mock drafts for that team. Stacker we are mocking gets to set the parameters for the draft (how many rounds, trades yes or no) and choose the winner.

So today your mission should you choose to accept it is a mock draft of the San Francisco 49ers.

Mock Draft parameters: minimum 5 rounds. You can make one trade if you want but you can't trade any 2025 picks to move up.

Positions of need: OT, C, OG, DT, Edge, CB, WR, LB, TE, S

You can use any mock draft simulator you want but I recommend https://www.nflmockdraftdatabase.com/mock-draft-simulator https://www.profootballnetwork.com/mockdraft (you don't need an account to use these- ads are annoying though)

Screenshot your mock in the comments. Best 49ers mock submitted today, as determined by me, gets 1000 sats.

Hoping we get a few good ones and can try this again next week with another Stacker's team.

Ok, so I've read the instructions this time...

I royally F'd up.. tried to trade for 134 so that I had 132, 134 and 135... But ended up accidently sending 132 to the jets in the trade. I ballsed up, I'm sorry. Was tryna get 3 guys I liked at that range. But never mind.

Also I mighta sorta sent a flurry of picks away plus a future 2 to come up and get guyton (but he's a stud). So... I fixed your oline with JPJ and Guyton, but it cost 63,94 and 2025 2nd rounder (cmon likely a back end one) to return 34&231 (pleased to get watts with that pick though, I think he's being slept on.)

As it turns out... I like to trade 🤣🤣 yes the 2025 was against the rules... But cmon... I had to.

I know you said one trade... But I got in the zone and began wheeling and dealing. I wanted more bites at the apple. I couldn't help myself.

You didn't read them well. Haha. Only one trade allowed and you can't trade 2025 picks. I didn't think it would be fair to judge someone who traded all of the 49ers picks next year to get a top 10 this year against someone who picked at 31 which is why I put that restriction in place. This is very good otherwise. Love the first three picks. Do you want to submit another one following the restrictions?

Honestly in real terms if you had to send a future back end 2 along with 63&94 to move up 30 spots get guyton aswell as JPJ... Ooooffff I'd be fairly pleased with that.

Pub and btc_bellzer gave you a decent run and I didn't like picking a RB earlier than the 6th or 7th (it is a 49ers thing to do) but your top 4 were so solid that this mock was hard to beat. Congrats you are the new GM of the 49ers.

I didn't like taking a RB there either, but he had fallen a bit and the board was dense with positions I already selected.

It's always a tough call. I had one draft I did where JJ McCarthy fell to 31 and I didn't like the trade offers (even though they were good they were all 2025 draft pick based, what fun is that when I am doing a 2024 mock) so I just took him. I figured he can back up and if he is solid maybe the 49ers can move on from Brock instead of paying him 40M a year and restart their cheap QB window. I don't think they would do that but it made sense to me.

I love getting future draft compensation. It always feels like a freebie, since I only trade back when I either don't like any of the options or I can definitely still get a guy I like.

I am not sure if any of these sites let you do it but it would be cool if you could link your drafts year to year, seeing how everything played out. In this case you would get to actually use those picks you traded for and compare how it worked out vs what the team did.

Mocks are a lot of fun. Sometimes I just go wild and make tons of trades and try to get an absurd amount of picks and then I don't know who to pick because I have already chosen every position of need and have 5 or 6 picks left.

Maybe @Public_N_M_E will join us in this fun. Would be nice to have another submission to compete with yours. Though it is going to be tough to beat.

I think Greenard is a much better signing than people give credit. Will he replace hunter 141?? Doubt it, Danielles my boy. But will he be able to soften the loss a little, yeah for sure. Especially if we can get some serious interior pressure with someone like Byron Murphy or Johnny newton.

Yeah. I like Van Pran. I wouldn't mind the 49ers trading back if one of the studs they covet aren't available at 31. It's a deep draft. There is a lot value in the 2nd, 3rd, 4th round rated players. If 49ers could drop back a bit and pick up an early third I wouldn't mind.

I'm hoping the Raiders will trade into the 49ers pick and take Penix there. Getting that 5th year option on QB's is so valuable.

I think a trade back is more feasible now that the Lions matched the contract on Brock Wright so the 49ers don't have a TE2 after losing Woerner in FA. They can probably drop back still get a good OL or DL guy and then use the extra pick to take a guy like Sanders or Johnson if they want to wait a bit on a TE.

I have TE as a higher position of need now than I did yesterday morning when I posted and Lions still had not matched. I thought they were going to let him go but they matched on the last day so it kind of changes the position of need rankings a bit unless they are confident they can get what they need in FA.

That's fair enough, we've got others who haven't played in ages and maybe one or two who've never played, I think the first year will be just people sussing out how it works. You know where to find the link if you fancy joining later, but the cut off will be the fantasy draft, shortly after the NFL draft.

Dejean is a baller, he's listed as a safety but he is just an all round athletic DB. Can play corner, slot, strong safety, free safety. He's fantastic.

I liked the Jordan Jefferson in the later rounds. Solid DT and Eric watts I think really has the tools to be a great edge and is being completely slept on going that late.

It's was fun to draft for a different team! Cheers for the idea GR 👊

1989 Super Bowl was the first NFL game I ever watched as a kid. My dad suggested I pick a team to cheer for and I chose the 49ers. I have been a fan ever since.

I do also cheer for the Bills since they were the closest team to Toronto and many southern Ontarians are Bills fans but 49ers are and were always my NFL team. 49ers visit Buffalo this coming season. I am hoping it is early enough in the season that the weather is nice and I can make the trek to the game. I have been to Bills games before but I have never actually seen the 49ers play live.

Bengals. It was pretty easy to be a 49ers in my early years of fandom and walk around the school yard with my 49ers starter jacket. Had some pretty lean years after the mid-late 90s Cowboys rivalry years, but the last 5 have been another good era for 49ers football. Hopefully they can manage to take home 6.

Traded 11&23 to get 4 to come up and get Daniels.

Couldn't find a way back into the higher rounds so went heavy on the trenches. It does say I got two Cs but one is obviously going to play guard.

So that's wheeling and dealing to come up.

Here's another one which was a stick and pick, until Dallas came at me with 24&56 for 23&104. Move back one spot (cost me JPJ) and get back into the second round? Sold.
