I reposted an old post of mine to Reddit (one and two)
First preliminary conclusion: Wow, people are so much more cynical and more negativity. Maybe because the algorithm incentivizes this behavior. But also maybe because Reddit is a toxic hellhole. And when I think about it, Bitcoin-Reddit might even already have been my least favorite corner of Reddit.

Should something like this be automated for all users?
reply
That’d definitely increase the value of the profile page. Hard to imagine what that’d look like off the top of my head

What if it would look almost the same as I created above? :)
On top could be the section where you can have your quick markdown summary and just below it would be nice section listing all your "SN Originals" ("discussions") and then perhaps another section listing all your shared links.
The list of discussions could be rendered nicely, concisely and maybe sorted by sats or votes. (I think it's better to make it more concise than the current double line + spacing for usual posts) Some of this could be perhaps configurable by the user. E.g. I could select which posts show on m profile and which posts don't show.
I think this would encourage people to beef up their profiles and use it as a link that represents them. It would also let other folks to discover the older content more easily (e.g. I'd check all dergigi's post...)

Another benefit of building it up automatically is that it would sort of create a way for anyone to assess what type of content do you usually post - is it just trash and simple questions, or is it valuable, thought out content and good posts...
So people would likely be incentivized to post higher quality posts, because - it's going to show up on your profile :)

Agreed. Seems like most social media apps do something this this.
Will create a gh issue for it

Do you think we will see a popular lightning network wallet ditch the lightning network and form its own centralized solution instead, essentially forcing its users to use it? I mean it could be advertised as faster, cheaper and safer in some regards and offer charge backs.
Imagine if WoS had a million users for example. This would likely include individuals and businsses, i guess they could have their own internal payment solution and then maintain a connection with LN for external payments. No reason to ditch it?
reply
Maybe. Network effects matter. Most custodial wallets could do this, but what matters IMO is that the underlying technology doesn't require this and ideally outcompetes custodial solutions.

Thinking that Bitcoin adoption won't have any negative effects is a pretense of knowledge.

As Thomas Sowell says they’re no solutions only tradeoffs

Today I'm continuing to learn React while working on UselessShit.co which is a project intended to shame people into saving in bitcoin instead of spending their fiat on useless stuff :)

I'm really excited about my Twitch stream tomorrow. It would be a month that I've been streaming bitcoin-only games on Twitch. I hope to inspire other bitcoiners to start streaming bitcoin games on Twitch (or other streaming platforms) to grow the bitcoin ecosystem.
So one of the things I worked on this weekend was to set up a Discord server where I'll be dropping resources to help other bitcoiners set up their Twitch, promote their channels and talk about bitcoin.
For now, it feels like a crazy ambitious project so I'm just using it as a means to have fun and play bitcoin games. If this turns into a movement in the bitcoin gaming industry, great. If not, at least I would have a place where I documented my progress.
I'm just going to take things one step at a time.

I bought my first btc in 2013 and made my first LN transaction in 2022.
So LN adoption could be at BTC 2013 levels with a long ways to go before mainstream
