Disturbed of that era really went for the people Vs the oppressors. That whole album "ten thousand fists" is really themed around the masses standing strong together against the tyranny of their ruling class.
Totally unjustified wasn't it, pretty much all of them were great artists in their own rights. The whole "boy band only" stuff they got was such a lazy narrative.
I remember reading about that when I was learning about them. If I remember right, they wrote at least some their own songs whereas most of the boy bands don't.
Correct, Gary wrote pretty much all of the Take That music from the very beginning, he's very talented as well as being able to play the piano. The band was built around him. Unlike other manufactured boy bands who were put together and had less creative control, although to be fair to One Direction and Boyzone they did have input in to their songs, but nowhere near the level of Gary.
You often find that once the band is up and running and they become bigger then you start to see in later albums they assert more control of the songwriting, as that's where the mega bucks are.
I can't remember if I've had this conversation somewhere else but allegedly Simon cowell didn't want to sign them and said "lose the fat one and you've got a chance" you mean the guy who was by a country mile the most talented in the whole band🤣 great job Simon. Won't live that one down.
Here's a double throwback. A performance that's nearly twenty years old of Richard Thompson covering the 1967 Easybeats classic "Friday On My Mind." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y7ijCwNb68M
Throwing way back. Was listening to classical music on spotify with my daughter yesterday while she was doing her phonics work book. Came across this tune by Schubert and really liked it.
So that's fantastic. Like really cool. I've been enjoying a lot of the stuff Kweks has been posting on collaborations with Richard. And the addition of Joe Martin only shows going from strength to strength.
But I don't think I can pin it. I wouldn't feel good about giving the pin space away for free to someone, since I set a precedent renting that space out to EddieOz for his release of Anarchy Dreams.
I spoke with Kweks recently about offering the pin space and they seemed interested, however havn't gotten back to me with anything as of yet.
I do also think it should be reposted and split 50/50 but perhaps they have individually come to an arrangement to only use one account for all three of them and split 3 ways. I wouldn't want to interfere with any existing arrangement they may have. So unless Kweks does that themselves, I wouldn't feel good about doing it myself.
