I was shocked too, maybe they warn you somewhere, but in that case I missed it too. I'd also had it installed for a while before I decided to add funds.

Just playing around, sending sats from one wallet to another. The transaction took a few seconds longer than usual. I suspect it had troubles finding a reasonable path, hence the high fees.

Who are you paying to? Maybe try to establish a direct channel with them.
