took a ceramic workshop to make my own soapbox and tooth brush holder - I just can't find anything I like, so why not make it myself? 👀
I only played with this when I was a kid, and it's really fun to make the clay into different shapes and then play around; creation is about experimenting and turning your imagination into reality. 🧪

I was telling someone about Pearl Harbour and how I thought the response to the Japanese attack was really well portrayed from different viepoints etc… and someone turned to me and in all seriousness said ‘Thanks for ruining it for us’

Definitely, Natalia is a woman of many talents. In Portugal, there is also a strong tradition of pottery, mainly in the Alentejo region, but it also exists in the north of the country with a particularity: they use black clay.

The reason for the black color is unclear for me, but the tradition dates back to the 16th century. It's worth noting that the clay itself isn't black. The black color is achieved during the firing process in a soenga, which is a type of oven dug into the ground. After the pottery is fired, it's covered with moss and earth, which gives it its final appearance.
