I find intermittent fasting to work for me too. I do the same thing, stop eating by 8pm and don't eat the first meal the next day until after 12pm. Well, I've always been a skinny guy, and I probably have the skinny gene or something, because I could eat a lot and not gain weight. But going on intermittent fasting actually helped me with my energy level. I feel so much more energetic, awake, and alert ever since I started it about one and a half years ago. I'm not very strict on it, I would eat breakfast on Saturdays with my friends after our morning walk or sometimes cook Sunday breakfast for my kids and eat with them, but I'm pretty consistent in following it during week days.
Nice. Yes, I am very consistent with my smoothie/intermittent fasting program at home, but when I travel or go on vacation with the family, all bets are off. Interestingly, when I eat breakfast and stop the smoothie/fasting I feel a decrease in energy level. Yes, contrary to what I have heard all my life, eating breakfast decreases my energy level throughout the day.

I agree on the breakfast part to a certain extent. For me, eating breakfast won't decrease my energy level throughout the day, but I do feel a bit bloated and more drowsy after the meal.
I believe every human is different in their own way, and we should each try to find what works best for each of us. To you and me, breakfast might be a hoax. To some others, it is indeed the most important meal of the day.
