My lottery miner got delivered this morning. I hereby promise that I will donate to the Stacker News rewards pool 1 shiny, brand new bitcoin when I win my first block, IF I win it pre 2024 halving. If it happens after the halving, I will donate 1/2 of a bitcoin.

Someone told me I had a better shot at winning a block than I do the New York State Lottery.

You gotta be in it to win it!

I am happy my 1TH/s will keep mining decentralized. https://m.stacker.news/19688

Super cool ! This reminds me of the early years in Bitcoin mining with a line of 20 of those USB Antminers. I still keep 2 of them but just as relics, to show them to my grandkids. https://m.stacker.news/19689

May The Bitcoin Be With You!

reply

Very cool collectible to have.

reply

Collectible my ass. Here come da Lambo!

reply

Yesterday, I parked beside a guy driving what looked like a brand new Corvette Z06.

I said "nice car" and he said "thanks, I haven't driven it much. Just got it last summer and this is the first time I have taken it out this year." I replied "well enjoy it while we have some nice weather before we get snow again." and I walked away thinking "that dude could have had 10 bitcoin last summer for the price of that car that he only drives on nice days". Haha

reply

Yep. He'll drive it twice then garage it until the battery dies.

reply

maybe he already has more than 10 bitcoins πŸ‘€

so it's maybe this but instead of "when lambo" it's "when nice weather":

Classic..

as often, there is a sad story behind these memes

I'm pretty sure that next block has our name on it.

Peel dat screen foil already! :P

reply

I have some still on for years. It's my boomer slipcover fetish. Actually it's just a blurry photo :)

reply

Go baby Go!

reply

Awesome. I can't wait for us all to relish in your spoils.

reply

That’s amazing. Would having 2 double your chances or just give you two chances?..(thinking out loud)

reply

I'm already thinking about that. The problems of an addictive personality.

reply

It's a Bitaxe Ultra.

reply

Yes I deleted the silly question portion of my comment after I zoomed in and saw the bitaxe sticker. I was a bit too quick on the draw.

reply

1 TH/s? I thought it was 500 Gh/s...good luck!

reply

A bit lower in reality, but not much lower.

reply

You’ll donate it to the monthly rewards pool and then win the bulk of it back by being the most legendary stacker. Got it.

reply

Kind words, but with the amount of time I spend on here my sats/hour are probably pretty low. Nobody can miss me if I never leave. Like the old song: How can I miss you if you won't go away? https://youtu.be/3EfZpWtyeUA

reply

You’re one of the only constants, so don’t discount that. To me it makes your contributions more valuable than any/many. A consistent experience for n00bs and seasoned stackers alike.

reply

It’s basically coinjoining via SN lol

reply

What settings are you running yours at. 1TH/s for this device is pretty crazy

Also, d-central should give me a finders fee for sending you their way LOL

reply

I don't know. I just shut it down. I was just making sure it was working. I am moving it to an animal free spot What do you get? I was going off a video I watched. I'm a novice. All advice is appreciated. And yes, you'll get your finder's fee.

reply

This is my Braiins pool dashboard for the BitAxe ultra

https://m.stacker.news/19698

I am not on my home network right now so I can’t verify the config settings it’s running, but I believe I just took the standard/default as provided by the software. As you can see in the dashboard, I average a little under 450 GH/s.

One thing to note is that there is often a discrepancy between the reported hash rate on the device itself and the calculated hash rate as reported by the mining pool you submit your shares to. As I understand it, the mining pool calculates hash rate based on your shares submitted, whereas the hash rate on the device itself is closer to the hardware level. In practice, they’re usually pretty close, but usually the number from the mining pool’s perspective is a bit lower.

Let me know if you have other questions! I’ve only had this particular miner for a couple months. I’ve had my other unit running since last summer, so I have a little more experience with that one.

reply

This is helpful. Thanks. I have some work to do.

reply

You’re welcome! Welcome to the miner club

reply

Is it loud or warm?

Braiins pool includes blockstream mining note

reply

The BitAxe makes noise but I run it in my office where I work most days and it doesn’t bother me. There is hardly any heat to notice, in my experience

So if you ever mine a block, you'll donate at least 0.5 bitcoin into the SN reward pool? Even if it happens in 20 years?

To which address do you mine so we can hold you accountable? πŸ‘€

reply

I will post it here once my wife and I agree on a location and I settle on a pool. I have to do some homework.

reply

Oh, if you use a pool it's not a lottery miner. I thought you meant to mine alone since if you use a pool, you'll contribute to blocks regularly.

Then the promise doesn't make sense πŸ‘€

Update: oh, or maybe there are pools which only serve block templates but everyone still mines to their own address πŸ€”

Sorry if I am confusing you, take your time! :)

And very cool that you have a miner now! You're ahead of me.

reply

CK pool is for lottery mining, I believe. I'm definitely going the lottery route. The reason I said that is because @WeAreAllSatoshi is mining with Braiins, and I wasn't sure if that was a solo pool too. I assumed it must be, since it wouldn't seem to make sense otherwise, but maybe I'm wrong?

I didn't know it was possible to mine with devices like this. It's not expensive and it should consume little energy. I tried to find out more but I was unsuccessful. Do you have any idea about the probability of winning this lottery?

reply

From my understanding, somewhere between slim and none.

reply

:) I see. This seems to be something that people buy either because they enjoy gambling or for ideological reasons.

reply

I thought mining machines for bitcoin were bigger. I am not a techy. I don't know much. How much does it cost though and where can we buy one?

reply

They're pricey for what you get, I think.I don't remember exactly what I paid. It took a while to get here, but a used S-19 is a better value, I think. Others on here are more knowledgeable than me, especially on day one!

Looks like I'll be lucky to get 400 Gh/s. I must have misheard it.

reply

We should start a pool !!! Or join one

reply

Nice. I should have grabbed a Bitax

reply

Not too late!

reply
reply

I wanted to grab the early releases. Didn't realize there were still some left.

reply

Is this nerdminer?

Wish you a good luck in finding a block πŸ€πŸ€ž

reply

No. It's a bitaxe ultra.

reply

πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ for the family

reply

Congrats, keep building and growing!

reply

You would have < 0.000000000001% of the total hash rate...you may have to wait decades :)

reply

Did someone say low time preference?

reply

Very nice. I'll be looking out for their bigger designs which have whole arrays for these. Looking for something in the 100-200W range that's efficient and can serve as lightweight space heater.

reply

I bet it'll be a fun little endeavor nonetheless, one question remains, though: will you be profitable?

reply

Almost certainly not, unless I get that needle in a haystack. I'm using this to learn.

reply

Awesome!!!

reply

Thank you for your contribution to the network hash rate and good luck!

reply

Best of Luck! You have all SN folks lined up praying "@siggy47 wins it before Halving 2024".

reply

Note: helpful tip. Be aware that the device will only connect through 2.4GHz wifi, so you may need to fuss with your router. I learned this after a short(?)period of time yelling and throwing things. Standard procedure for me.
