Yes. I don't want to portray it as my loss. I feel horrible for my friend. I didn't know his daughter well. Of course at these moments every parent's empathy goes off the charts 

I’m so sorry to hear that. 
Regardless of the circumstances it focuses you in a moment. Most people hope for a better tomorrow, a brighter future and we need to realise there is also a here-and-now. 
Hope it goes as well as can be expected for your friend and their family.

I cannot get motivated today. I have lots of paperwork just sitting there. I am attending a funeral tonight for a close friend's daughter. A real tragedy. 35 year old woman with a 1 year old daughter. I represented her a few times.  Kind of straightens out your priorities.
