In Malawi, where I'm to spend some time, 3 March is Martyrs Day. Commemorating the people who are believed to have fought and died for freedom. I don't know how true that is, but I love to hear about heroes who sacrifice their whatever for others.
Sadly, it suffered the almost unavoidable 30-odd years of authoritarianism post- the colonial handover to emerge as a country that is struggling with poor natural resources beyond agriculture.. i hope it is able to make continued progress for its people.

I know it's a big country, but any chance you've seen the big bitcoin mining set ups that power that little village? Also, are you anywhere near the lake?

I'm in Lilongwe, the Capital of Malawi. I'm not sure if I can make it soon to the lakeside, because I just learned that the road is so bad this fall. But I can't leave the country without visiting the village with the Bitcoin mining set ups. Hopefully this March, I will be able to get there.

I always wanted to see the lake. I enjoy keeping cichlid fish from that lake. Interesting critters.
