Very split. Lots of people saying if kwesi doesn't mortgage the future and draft a "sure fire qb" (please no one's ever a sure fire... Remember trubisky? Or the chosen josh Rosen?) That he should be fired if he misses on getting our QB for the future.
But fundamentally if we can resign Kirk to a 2year? Maybe 3 year... And just build out our trenches, I think we're onto something. Still need a future QB but I don't think it's the end of the world if we don't get into the top 3 for one.
That's very similar to how I felt when we parted ways with Carr. He's a very flawed QB, but he's also proven himself to be a starting caliber NFL QB, which most of the rookies will not be.
I would rather let other teams overpay in draft capital for rookie QB's (as long as we have a serviceable one) and pick more surefire guys at other positions.

Nailed it. That's pretty much my thoughts on it. I think Kirk is a QB you can win a SB with. But I don't know if he's a QB you can win a SB because of. Chasing the next Pat Mahomes on a rookie contract seems to be everyones play at the moment. But the thing they forget about mahomes... Is he sat behind Alex smith and had smith tutor him for a year before taking over. Lots of organisations just chuck their rookie into the game and when they bust they cast them off and look for someone else. I understand the NFL is Not For Long, but you gotta give these kids time to develop.

Do you think the Vikings would be willing to bring Cousins back on maybe a 2yr deal and also draft a QB of the future so they could develop under him?
Of course that would be dependent on Cousins willingness as well to sign a shorter term deal. I am sure a lot of teams will be interested in him but not sure if he gets a long term deal.

I think that would be plan A. I think (from rumours) that Kirk is willing to come back at a bit of a discount if they'll commit to him for longer than a year. I think he'd prefer 3, but 2 might be the middle ground. And I think they'd want him to tutor the kid aswell. I think it's not a case of both parties wanting to get a deal done, I think it's to do with guarantees and not hamstringing ourselves cap wise when we have so many other mouths to feed. Darrisaw, JJ, Danielle. We need to keep money back, but I don't think money is the problem, I think it's structure. He wants to know where his family is going to be for the next couple years and he wants to know he's protected with guarantees. Especially coming off that Achilles injury. I do hope that we can sign him to a decent length deal that doesn't break the bank and get our QB of the future.

We will see what Williams is when he reaches the pros. All the talent in the world but I was unimpressed with his second half of the season. Personally I like JJ the best. He is a winner.

Penix looked dy-no-mite against the longhorns... And more like an exploded mess against the wolverines... 🤣🤣 I hope you're right about McCarthy as I think he's the realistic guy we could get at 11.
