Million Sat Madness is live! We repurposed the rewards page for it. It has a leaderboard with estimated payouts.
Other related updates:
  • you can now sort stackers by value in top, e.g. https://stacker.news/top/stackers/week
    • this allows you to see who has been most rewardable historically according to our latest rewards algorithm
  • stackers who hide themselves from top now get a placeholder in rankings so people can really see how they're stacking up
I love it!
I like the way you handled all those sneaking sneakers. Careful y'all, the snooker can become the snorked.

imagine when team @sn do that to the cowboy page... ๐Ÿ•ต๐Ÿผ

Oh and rankings in the leaderboard are recomputed hourly.
reply

If you're wondering why you're not on the leaderboard, it's because 50% of a stacker's value depends on how well they zap posts/comments as it always has been. If you don't zap well, early, often and meaningfully, your posts/comments will need to be 2x better (roughly) than others in the leaderboard who are zapping.
reply
That's dope, but does it reset one's "value" hour-by-hour, picking up again from the place one ended the last hour on, thus actually enabling to win or lose places by merely "out-zapping" someone who earned more Sats, which could be reversed the following hour, or how does the "value" work?
reply
It doesn't reset value. It looks at a time period's best posts and comments and their zappers, and from that determines value.
reply
And that value gets added each time, resulting in one's placement?
reply
Yes it isn't their latest value. It's their cumulative value over the time period. For MSM it's the cumulative value over the calendar month.
reply
That's a dope system, it's not about what you stack, but how you act.
reply
meaningfully
Meaning content valued by other stackers?
I guess I need to revise my montra again: "Zap big. Zap often. Zap early. Zap meaningfully." That's getting cumbersome.
reply
By meaningfully I meant 'big' but your mantra does not account for zapping 'well' which is meant to mean zapping the good stuff you suspect we'll all like.

One additional note, all SN-affiliated accounts (@k00b, @kr, @ek, @sn) have been disqualified from participating in Million Sat Madness.
Yeehaw! ๐Ÿค
reply
So the rewards are not issued for them? Where do they go? How do you exclude the accounts and calculate it?
reply
76 sats \ 0 replies \ @sn 1 Mar
correct, the SN-affiliated accounts are disqualified from participating. any rewards that would have otherwise gone to those accounts just gets added to the pool of bonus sats for Million Sat Madness
reply
Yeehaw!
sorry not sorry, will zap @ek more then ๐Ÿ‘€
reply
What setting do we need to enable to appear in the ranking?
reply
hide from top stackers
reply
I'm just thinking out loud, but maybe there should be a separate setting for MSM.
reply
I thought about it but it leaks all the data people are saying they want to hide when setting hide from top stackers.
reply
Well planned and organized. This is interesting, how you put it. I don't think the ranking only applies to March.
reply
175 sats \ 0 replies \ @k00b OP 1 Mar
The leaderboard on the rewards page does only apply to march. It's consistent with historical value ranking because the people in the leaderboard are consistently providing high value including within the last 12 hours.
reply

and how the percentage being calculated?

ChatGPT got it!
"It seems like the values are decreasing and getting closer to zero. Additionally, the values are following a certain pattern where each subsequent value is approximately one-third of the previous value.
This suggests an exponential decay pattern. Specifically, it seems the values are being generated by the function:
f(n)=1/(3ห†n)
where n represents the position in the sequence (starting from 0)."
