Taken at a bus stop in Singapore. Did you know that Singaporeans are the second most sleep-deprived people in the world?
I actually learnt recently from a Stacker that sleeping well is more crucial than sleeping more. So I guess there is much room for improvement for our sleep narrative haha.
Are you happy with your sleep quality?
Don't leave us hanging! Who's the first worst?

lol. So this survey states that we are third most sleep deprived behind Tokyo n Seoul. I’m not surprised. We Asians mug very hard haha

I think most of us intuitively understand that sleep is critical for optimal health, but for me at least, it's always been something hard to measure and keep on top of with regular consistency. However, now that I have the Whoop I can actually see in metrics how my sleep quality is impacting my recovery and my day to day life. Seeing my sleep in quantifiable numbers and in an objective manner instead of just resorting to how I feel, has helped me greatly as I can see how my daily lifestyle, routines, habits, and schedule impact my overall sleep. What I've learned is that quality sleep is not something that can be improved by implementing change just a couple hours before sleep, but in fact preparation for good sleep begins from the moment you wake up and how you conduct yourself throughout the day, and how you begin to taper off as you get ready to sleep in the evening. Therefore, I would also agree in that I too have more room for improvement, but I now have a better understanding and knowledge of how to achieve quality sleep on a consistent basis.

What’s one thing you actively try to improve on?

Hmm, I've learned that improving sleep quality is quite multi faceted, therefore, I am actively trying to improve and look for aspects of my life to improve during wake time in order to better my sleep. The one thing I struggle to maintain consistency in is limiting screen time after a certain hour at night. By 11PM I aim to completely get off any sort of screen in order to calm my brain and body down, but I fall prey to watching a video, or scrolling through SN or something else. I do wear blue light glasses from around 8, 9PM but even then I would like to improve on staying disciplined when it comes to turning off all screens by 11PM, because I have noticed I'm able to fall asleep faster when I do so.

I didn’t know blue light glasses is a thing! Will ask my optician the next time I change my glasses

Sleep quality might make a good addition to your list of parenting tips.
I know my parenting suffers when I go a few days without good sleep.

Still struggling with this one. On some nights, I indulge in revenge procrastination haha. Getting better at really putting my phone aside when it comes to bedtime. Now I need to not even bring my phone to the bedroom haha

Now I need to not even bring my phone to the bedroom haha
That would be smart. For some reason, I've been a little worse about using my phone at night lately.

Happy to report back that I was a good boy yesterday n left my phone in the living room. Haha

Did you ever hear about 'sleep points'?
reply
I haven’t! I’m embarrassed. I’m Chinese but today is the first time I heard about sleep acupuncture points haha
Do you use it in any way?
reply
No, I am not talking about sleep acupuncture points. Let me explain. I had sleep issues in my early adulthood. Because, I was quite the follower of Ayurveda since childhood, I searched for the remedy from there and then devised a formula which is based on a point system. 1 point for quality and 1 point for quantity. These points are given for every stage of sleep. The total should be anywhere between 7 to 10. I am sure it will help everyone if they can just follow and self assess their sleep. Last month, I scored 26 10/10 days. And the number has always remained in +20 days. Doin' some math helps... Haha...
Also , do you know that our eating and drinking habits and timings may affect our score as it does in my case.
reply
Yes, example we are not supposed to drink coffee after noon. But I don’t particularly care. 5.30pm n having my second cup of coffee. I need caffeine to steel my soul for the night ahead of parenting haha

Parenting is tough and enjoyable task at the same time. Very soon I will be a father too. Speaking of drinking and eating before going to bed. Ayurveda strictly prohibits eating and drinking anything (except water) in the last two hours before you sleep. It's also advised that a person should eat according to his body type.

Congratulations! Do you know if your baby will be a boy or girl?
It’s also good science. No supper means better digestion. But I must say I love sipping my beer after my kids are asleep just to savour my Me time haha

I think a boy...
