We hear people arguing over a variety of issues, and some of us are exhausted by the chatter--mostly so because the chatter isn't about issues we care about or issues that are actually important.
We might experience the same thing in the workplace. There just has to be some better way we can all be spending our time, we think, instead of this same old dumb meeting or arguing over this incredibly mundane detail.
What methods of reprioritizing time/effort do you use when notice you are once again in the slog?
Carefully diagnose your thoughts and the words you use. For instance, "issues". Issues are something someone else has brought to the table. Maybe he brought it because he doesn't have anything else to offer.
Write down your goals. Write down your thoughts. Hand writing is a powerful exercise.
Meditation. Shit down in a quiet place and observe your breathing. Breath through your nose. Observe your breath. If it is erratic but observation it will calm itself. With calm breath it is impossible to have an erratic mind. Just do this for 5 minutes. Only part attention to your breath.
Pray. Go away from everyone else and sit upright and close your eyes and pray. Just pick things you are grateful for and thank the supreme architect of the Universe for allowing you to enjoy this human life. Build up this grateful momentum.
