I don’t think it would make much sense for stackernews since I trust this website alone more than I trust a federation of random Bitcoin influencers, which are probably going to be the first people willing to be federation member.
I would be open to Cashu for single party mints but not having a platform custody my balance (I would have to use my device as a wallet) would add a lot of friction as I move between devices. Even if my wallet had a system where it asked me for approval before a spend, the frequency of my upvotes on stackernews would make the task tiring. I guess that’s more a wallet problem than a cashu problem.
Maybe I’d be willing to adopt this model as a user if the wallet app let me auto-approve ecash requests from stackernews up to a preset daily amount?
Perhaps you're right, cashu may be a better fit. Really just looking for any upgrade over the traditional custodial LN model
