Howdy there, partner! Welcome on into the Stacker Saloon.
Saddle on up to a stool and spill the beans about your day, fire away with them questions, or let loose and give us the lowdown on your wild and woolly life. We're all ears, so don't hold back!
We're open round the clock, so mosey on in whenever you please!
The front page UI feels a tad more spaced out. More padding/margin perhaps?

Pretty cool example of better search surfacing vintage content as the result of new content.

πŸ‘‹ hey @benwehrman I want to do a TopBuilder AMA next Friday, Jan 26th at 8am CST to introduce all the TopBuilder teams to the sn community. Anything special I need to do other than post it.
Thanks brother πŸ™
reply
Do it!! The only "moderation" I plan on doing is deleting posts that aren't proper AMA format (i.e. same as Reddit; a short statement of who OP is, ending with "AMA").
Looking forward to it πŸ€™

Ok cool, so just follow this:
"[Short description of who OP is, what value they can share with the community, etc.]. AMA"
reply
Yup! And it doesn't have to be word-for-word like that, just as long as it's in the format of opening the floor for people to come ask questions, and OP to answer.
Some people mistake it for an "Ask the community" deal, where OP posts a question for everyone else. I delete those since it's not AMA.
Hope that makes sense lol

Zap this one sat if this happens to you. Most of your issues with dev work are very simple dumb mistakes like using a wrong type name or something like that but you just don't see it until you either take a break or talk through it with a colleague.
Just figured out something that has had me stuck for to long. Granted I was new to the project but still. It was as simple as deleting a part of a type name.
reply
Wow, you really got left hanging there. I'm not a dev or I would have zapped.
Many of my data work issues turn out to be something similarly dumb to what you described and they tend to take way longer to find than they should have.

Morning gang!!! Wednesday is here, that means we got to see how our strategies are working out and see if we are going where we want to go or if we are getting our desired result, if so then keep on keeping on if not let's tweak it and get it back on track. It has been quite the week I must say, but amazing and productive. I wish you all a phenomenal middle of the week and keep on giving gang, we've got this, remember that you're awesome and you're important my good friend, so go out there and show the week what we're made of. Be well and stay frosty gang!!

It seems when I open my browser console I’m getting continuous web socket errors (on multiple clients).
Tried clearing and re-adding new relays, but no change. Most of the ws errors are for urls not even in my relay list

Went out with the dog this morning and slid down the icy driveway. She is surefooted. I am not. Luckily no fall. It is about as cold and windy as I can recall in many years. 19 F. -7C with 30 mph winds. Getting the wood stoves going now.

I grew up with a very steep driveway and many mornings involved me slipping, falling, and sliding down to the bus stop. My mom also had many slides down to the bottom while taking the garbage cans down.

You should have seen me bringing the empty can back up the driveway.

I didn't mention it, but that's when I would slide back down after getting off the bus.

The art of sock knitting 🧦
I dunno is it just me, but now that I'm wearing mostly handmade things, not only it's more meaningful, but I feel they are warmer, maybe because they are made with human hands? and with all the waiting made me value them more.
Sharing my product testing 2.0, with natural dyes wool πŸ‘€ ( not knitted by me but by a really talented lady that I found in the black sea region, and I guess because it's so cold there, people's knitting skills are really advanced! Like wow, with really beautiful patterns and cool techniques. )
And the "problem" with natural dyes is there aren't too many colors to choose from, but then I don't need so many colors:
  • blue - indigo
  • brown/black - walnut shell
  • purple - red cabbage leaves
These are the colors I love the most, so it's quite an easy problem to solve! my idea for all my clothing is a. natural fabric, b. traditional pattern - they are somehow really so eye-pleasing, I've been traveling around to collect inspirations. c. simple and natural color d. long-lasting
So simple, but there aren't many people making them? Oh, ofc thanks to the evil fiat money!
reply
Super jealous right now. Please post more about your crafts. How do you typically find these people? Need to also go β€˜hunting’ for more creative inspiration & people.
reply
want to get my digging skills? πŸ€“
Mainly two ways: a. by searches and many searches, but this can only lead you to the next step. b. visit the places where these makers live, and also ask locals, maybe have more hidden ones ( rarely in big cities )
Then do the stupid thing - buy and test, and keep filtering out the average ones, and once you find a really great one, then you check what people they hang out with ( people like to hang out with like-minded and skilled people, OSINT comes in handy πŸ€“πŸ˜‚ nah joking, people love to post with their frnds these days! ), and then you keep digging, test and repeat:)
This saloon is very modern ... Warp knitting wasn't really a saloon activity :)

skipping breakfast is nice? Can feel the energy ramping up as if the body is telling me go hunt and gather. But the food is right here in the fridge so i can just enjoy the energy boost and go eat in a bit without much effort in that department.

Wormhole next year? πŸ˜… Their roadmap includes:
  • πŸ’°Wormhole Pro – Longer expiration time, higher download count, larger files
  • πŸ”’ Optional password protection – Extra security for your files
  • πŸ“Š Download stats – See if/when your files were downloaded
  • πŸ•Έ Peer-to-peer Mode - No cloud, just pure P2P file transfers
  • πŸ“₯ Request files – Link to receive files from anyone
Edit: people in the community are mentioning it’s no longer maintained.
reply
so what is the good alternative atm? πŸ‘€
reply
Maybe something like a redirect url, and switch out the link for a new wormhole upload every 24hrs πŸ˜‚

Serve files from your own server :)
Basically a VPS like from Linode and then install (and configure) Nginx.
It will then look like this: https://files.ekzyis.com/public/
If you want to keep things private, you can use HTTP Basic Auth (but only with HTTPS!)
It will then look like this: https://files.ekzyis.com/
