Some people want inscriptions to be non-standard and have been advocating for this change to be merged in Bitcoin Core, but it has not gained support among other Bitcoin contributors for various reasons.
Seems like one of those things where people of good intent could disagree, but instead of that, bunches of people accuse the other bunches of being scammers, bad actors, and shitcoin sympathizers.
