A couple of weeks ago or so I updated the fountain.fm app. The UI is a bit different, which is fine, but I haven't earned 1 sat for listening since the update. The "promoted" podcasts are nowhere to be found and the others I frequent don't seem to "earn."

Is listen-to-earn still a thing?

This has been going on for a while, and long before the update. Once in a while I may earn 1 sat a minute, but it's infrequent. Promotions also seem to be a thing of the past. I would look at Fountain as a good value for value podcast app now, and no longer as a place to earn sats. I'm sure that was a financial losing proposition for the owners/investors, and not sustainable.

Hmm, hope that's not the case. It's been awesome to earn a few sats doing something I already do. As far as the promotions, I kind of started enjoying that I would listen to some things that I would never listen to otherwise. The older I get and more stuck in my ways I get, the more I'm realizing it's good to try new things. The promotions helped to branch out in a way. Appreciate your reply.

I've had earnings a few times since the update. They've made the duration variable as well as the amount. One time I was getting 1 sat/min for 30 minutes. Another time it was 1 sat/min for 20 minutes. Plus, one time I actually earned a few hundred sats, but I didn't check it in time to see what the rate or duration were.

I think their team knows people care about this and earnings will be a bigger part of future development. My understanding is that they were pretty focused on the UI and social improvements.

I expect listen-to-earn to have other hay days, but i don't think quite mastered the business model yet.

I have been getting promoted shows the past 5 days or so but didn't get any for awhile after the update. In the past 7 days I have earned 259 sats (37/day) which is ok but a far cry from what it was when I first joined fountain a year and a half ago. I think I earned 100k sats on fountain the first year or so I used it.

Yeah, I enjoy listening to a promo or advertisement to earn a few sats.

The app had this issue before in prior updates. Hope the users still with the platform.

I posted about this before the latest release (#314435). They acknowledged several issues which should have been fixed by now. However I still see some of the same issues and even some new ones.

Regarding rewards and promotions, it looks like their business model is encouraging subscriptions if you want to keep earning sats. I haven't subscribed yet because I would like to pay with sats not a Google account, which is the only option. Honestly I feel disappointed so I started using other apps for podcast listening.

Same issue here. App still crashes too. I created a ticket too. I really want the app to do well, but it’s actually a worse user experience now with the 1.0 app version. I was able to zap but not earn since the upgrade. Value for value anyone?
