The Browns are in the playoffs. The final TNF game of the season looked like it was going to be a blowout early on but it got a little interesting in the second half. Good thing the Browns D is outstanding because the second half looked a lot more like a 2023 Joe Flacco should look. I am sure the Jets would have liked to have picked up the W on the road against a good team to prove they aren't quitting but another L isn't the worst thing. Rodgers will be back next year. They have a good D, and a good coach.
And how about those Detroit Pistons. Pushing their losing streak to 28 games in style. Taking the top team in the East to OT. They play the Raptors tomorrow night. I am not cheering for it but I am expecting a Pistons win and end of streak because that would be totally on brand for the Raptors. I think a poll might be in order to see what the community thinks will happen in this match of juggernauts.
I actually watched a bowl game. Well, not a whole game, but I did watch some of the Alamo Bowl. Have you guys watched any bowl games yet?
NFL week 17 pick 'em will be posted shortly
Canada v.s Sweden in the IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship today. I am sure no one else cares but I will be watching.
Sats for all, GR
Good point about the Jets, except they'd be crazy to count on Rogers next year, which is even dumber than having counted on him this year. I'm happy for the Browns.

Sam Darnold looked pretty sharp on that TD drive Monday. He is a FA and I am sure isn't going back to the 49ers. Rodgers/Darnold duo bring the Jets back to the playoffs next season.
reply
Oh man. I'm nauseous.
reply
I hear Jimmy G's available for trade. That dude's a proven winner and he's well rested.
reply
Jimmy would be a great backup if he didn't cost 20M a year or whatever stupid money the Raiders are paying him.
reply
Hint: It's more than that.
reply
I knew it was over 20M but I was too lazy to look it up.
reply
20M is closer to what we're paying Chandler Jones.
I am sure they will draft a QB and that will be Rodgers backup. I don't think they will bring Darnold back. Darnold's problem is he is a one read QB. If his first read isn't there things get a bit ugly. I think that's why the 49ers liked him as a backup. Go to your first read and if it's there let it rip and if not check it down to CMC and Shanahan thinks he can always scheme the first read open. As we saw on the first INT of Monday's game sometimes he gets outschemed.
reply
All Jets QBs have IQs roughly equal to their uniform numbers.

Hard to argue when the dude they had out there last night is named Simian. He can add an e but he isn't fooling me.

Their owner came out in support of Salah and the GM. (Not sure I'm a fan of the GM backing) but for sure these past few seasons haven't been on Salah, he may need to mature into a HC and not just be a DC with a challenge flag. But his Defence has not been the problem at all, so props to him for that.

He is a good coach. He is from the Shanahan coaching tree. They are all good. I really like the Vikings coaching staff. O'Connell is good and Flores is doing some wild stuff with the D.
reply
I think O'Connell tries to get too cute sometimes. He needs to go for the throat not throttle back when we've got a lead. Flores turned more or less the same personnel from a bottom D to a top D. I got mad respect for Flores. I really like O'Connell, I just hope he irons out some of his game.management issues.

No coach is perfect. As fans we will always have things to squabble about regarding our coaches. Shanahan is great but there are still things he does that really irritate me. Like throwing on first down from the 15 on the first drive of the game against the best D in the league that loves to disguise coverages instead of just running even if you only get a couple yards to see how they are playing you in the red zone. As much as Brock made a bad read on that 1st INT Monday, Shanahan also got outschemed. He thought you knew what coverage they would be in in the red zone and they tricked him.
reply
Always. But if they don't cocl.up how are us armchair experts gunna have anything to talk about 🤣 there's so much more to it than we see and we all say "oh I'd have done that" but these are the best coaches at the absolute top of their game. No we wouldn't have done better. It's endlessly frustrating when you see the same things happen. But they pull it off once and theyre the second coming.... Everyone forgets the 99 times they missed on a call when they make that 1.
reply
If I could I'd definitely be watching World Juniors
...not so sure the Jets have a good coach though
reply
Don't quit on Saleh.
reply
I liked him originally but the Jets are still too undisciplined and look unprepared too often, things that haven't gotten better under him.
reply
Pistons man. NBA teams should be relegated. Damn shame these players are still getting paid losing all these games.
reply
Their coach is the second highest paid coach in the NBA. He just signed a 6 year deal. Haha,
