In short no. Elon is about making money not free speech. He's just good at manipulating people into buying his bs. People on Elon's level don't get canceled. He's also a gov shill.
Elon wants to be your bank. That's all the Twiiter buy was about. He has said it many times. He had the idea for X back in his Paypal days and its always been about making X an everything app. He wants to be your bank. Stay skeptical.

Elon isn't dumb but other than that you are spot on. I don't think he's as smart as people think he is though.
As long as he stays out of politics, he's fine, else they'll do to him what they're doing to trump.

Difficult. he's the richest man in the world (on and off), he has a ton of US government contracts. There are many centers of power and interests; they're intertwined, but they're not the same. There are struggles between different imperial governments, between different corporate sectors, between different parts of governments, all the time.
So this is probably a power struggle inside the imperial top of the pyramid, between parts of the government aligning with Musk to push back against a media captured by -partial- interests of the ruling class. Which means it depends on who wins this struggle.. in the short term. in the long term, these struggles weaken the power pyramid as a whole, so I suggest to enjoy it with some popcorn.
