I was just talking about the boy who cried wolf aspect the other day. They created a dangerous loss of confidence.
Snowden- now there was a real eye opener for me. Many of my friends were furious at him for being a traitor. They bought the smoke screen. No matter how many times I tried to discuss the revelations, no one cared.
Yeah, I have friends with the same view on Snowden. I would point out that the people that are supposed to hold these agencies accountable (Senators) failed to do their jobs as well as the law not being equally enforced on the actors in these agencies.
Its quiet ironic to me with people I know that claim to hate Communism how OK they are with the US building something far more powerful than the KGB in our "free country". At what point do you say I'm not OK with this? We "defeated" Communism just to create our own slave nation. Its absurd.
I think it is just physiologically hard to admit you've been duped. Or that something so fundamental to your beliefs has been a lie. Some of us are wired to handle this better than others. Denial is a very common response.
