This is my biggest pain point with Signal. Since privacy is about being able to selectively reveal information about themselves (or not), I think Signal is not doing a good job when it comes to ~privacy.
But it's doing a good job when it comes to ~security since the Signal Foundation developed the Signal Protocol which has become the industry standard afaict.
This is another good example for something which is very secure but not necessary very private.
If you're worried about shoulder surfing, get a privacy screen protector. Not all things require high tech solutions.
Oh, lol, sorry, this is not the feature request I was searching. I just looked at the title and thought that must be the one.
I want to be able to configure per contact who should see my profile picture, even after we already exchanged some messages. There was this Github ticket for it but they moved it to their discussion platform. However, I can't seem to find it there.
