There is so-called "Käsekrainer" sausage originating from Austria, specifically invented in 1960 in Upper Austria. As far as I know, there is no equivalent from Bavaria.
weird all the butcher shops here in California sell "cheesy bavarians" which is cheese filled sausage.

I've seen they also sell mustard with chives and label it as coming from Bavaria. I haven't come across something like that here. That's precisely why I had this idea for a post from time to time – there are indeed many misconceptions about Bavaria.

Does Käsekrainer have cheese in it?
reply
Yes, they have cheese inside and are great for grilling. However, they tend to burst if grilled for too long on the bbq.
