Dear Stackers, I've been contemplating sharing occasional insights about my homeland, Bavaria – its landscapes, cuisine, and its people.
There's already an abundance of excellent content on topics like Bitcoin, Lightning, politics, technology, etc., from other users.
I find myself wondering what unique value I could bring, aside from sharing tidbits like the fact that we don't grill Weißwurst (Bavarian white sausage), but rather boil it and eat it with sweet mustard. Or dispelling the myth that we all wear Lederhosen and are die-hard FC Bayern Munich fans.
Would you find such content (landscapes, cuisine, and its people) interesting, or would it potentially be more on the boring side?
Hell yeah post that shit, just make sure there's proof of work.
Stackeres don't want to read a wikipedia article on Bavaria, they want @Lederhosen's first hand take on it

This is 100% guaranteed!

@elvismercury summed it up nicely. I would also add that a good way to feel out interest in a topic is to bring it up in Stacker Saloon. I enjoy the space since you can strike up a conversation about anything. You will likely meet people who share your intereats, like a real saloon. You'll discover whether there is interest in a particular topic, and whether an actual post would bring engagement. Also, it's fun.
reply
Ah, that makes sense now I've popped into the saloon a few times, glanced at the chaos and bolted out, afraid of having my hat stolen.
I'll pay more attention lol

Thanks for the tip!

I had access to a 1950s kids encyclopedia when I was growing up with the world's children illustrated in their National dress. The boy from Germany looked just like you in your image.
Can I ask how the lederhosen has kept in your culture - has it's popularity waxed and waned, it's practicality, when you'd see it most being worn (I'm guessing Oktoberfest) and importantly are there any lederhosen-wearing horse-riding 'cowboys'?
reply
The traditional Bavarian attire, the Lederhose, is these days only worn on special occasions. However, in rural areas, it's not uncommon to see people wearing Lederhosen on Sundays, especially after church, when they go to local taverns for a meal.
In the past, it was also common to carry a 'Hirschfänger,' a small knife, with a dedicated sheath sewn into the trousers. Regulations now prohibit carrying such knives in public or at events.
No Lederhosen-wearing horse-riding cowboys haha :)
reply
If there's no Hirschfänger pockets anymore you could start a trend and keep your mobile in it...
...or better still, keep a hidden NFC lightning payment card.
I'm not sure if Bavarians really slap your thighs (my knowledge is limited) - but you could update the tradition and slap a shops Point of Sale device on it when you want to pay instead.
reply
A brilliant idea! :D I should talk to Lederhosen manufacturers. The pocket, which is still stitched on but isn't allowed to be equipped with a knife, is still present, but it might need resizing haha ours doesn't fit in.

Sorry if I've just put international relations back a decade. (Mein gramatisch ist sehr krank... As you can tell)

I think don’t overthink it and just post what your heart wants you to write. The post that garnered me the most responses and zaps here was one in which I poured out all my woes about being a father. I believe that when your content resonates with people and is authentic, it will get a favourable response
reply
Thanks. Not doing it for the sats, I must say, but home office and working at night are perfect for the occasional SN surfing. It's quite enjoyable.
reply
It’s great that you aren’t doing it for the sats because it takes some pressure off the writing haha
reply
That's why only occasionally :)

depends, if you genuinely show some POW, I would appreciate that! and would be even nicer if can teach me something that I didn't know.
reply
I truly want to create original content about Bavaria. Therefore, I'll only occasionally make a post, ensuring that it is well-thought-out and provides some added value.
reply
I am from the "real" Germany and I would also like to see such content :)

I think stackerNews will evolve and here will be a lot different themes like we have on Reddit. It will be like a protocol. Tons of different topics, the best go to main page, all other live on their own theme page

Only one way to find out.
I say that not to be smug or cute. There's really no predicting it. But as cliched as it is to say, PoW is rewarded more often than not.
I'd like to read your thoughts, I can tell you that much.

do you have cheesy bavarians?
reply
Are we talking about sausages?
reply
yes. cheesy bavaraians
reply
There is so-called "Käsekrainer" sausage originating from Austria, specifically invented in 1960 in Upper Austria. As far as I know, there is no equivalent from Bavaria.
reply
weird all the butcher shops here in California sell "cheesy bavarians" which is cheese filled sausage.
reply
I've seen they also sell mustard with chives and label it as coming from Bavaria. I haven't come across something like that here. That's precisely why I had this idea for a post from time to time – there are indeed many misconceptions about Bavaria.
reply
Does Käsekrainer have cheese in it?
reply
Yes, they have cheese inside and are great for grilling. However, they tend to burst if grilled for too long on the bbq.
Boots-on-the-ground information for different geographical locations is directly aligned with bitcoineros future planning. I can only speak for myself but the existence of bitcoin completely changes my future plans on where to travel, work, or settle. I would value the ins and outs only an insider can provide and I'm sure others here would as well.
