and what i also wanted to point out: it is really remarkable that this gender or woke brain disease is metastasizing even here in such a relatively healthy and balanced and normal internet forum. i am not a psychologist, but maybe we could set up a corner here where we can talk to these people on a normal level. maybe we can even help and defuse the whole dialogue. the whole thing is now taking on proportions that far exceed the level of the grotesque and absurd

Except it's not a disease or a mental illness. Wanna know what is? Your transphobia and your inability to grasp reality and the science the backs those who do identify as transgender. Wanna know what mental illness is? People who believe in a big imaginary friend in the sky that they need to "serve" to give their life purpose.

I didn't particularly want to reopen this irritating discussion, but gender dysphoria (trans identification) is a recognized illness in the DSM-5. The fact that it is considered an illness is what allows the state to use the Americans with Disabilities Act on behalf of trans people.
To my knowledge, belief in god and transphobia are not officially recognized mental disorders.

Cisgender is the term used for those who identify as the gender they were assigned at birth. It means they are not transgender. And before you call me a "woke liberal," I'd rather be awake and with the times instead of asleep and being left behind.

No, because not everyone identifies as a man or a woman. Just because something is different to you, doesn't mean it's wrong or shouldn't be allowed. Being non-binary is a totally legitimate way to identify. Gender is not defined by your genitalia either, science has proven that gender is determined by the.brain and it is possible for the brain to not go along with what is in your pants. Climb out from under that rock you live in and catch up with the progress and acceptance my generation and below have accomplished. It'll be okay, boomer.

It's not a mental defect at all. Sorry, but just because it's weird.to.you and doesn't fit your narrative doesn't mean it's wrong or a "mental defect." Scientists have proven the legitimacy of those who are transgender and non-binary. Sorry that you are so close-minded. Must be all that fear mongering on those right wing propaganda networks you take in on a daily basis. The only ones with a mental defect are those who think anyone that isn't exactly like they are, are mentally ill or "sick."
I feel.sorry for you honestly. You're clearly just scared of anything that you consider different than the norm. But I promise.you there's nothing to be scared of. I have a couple friends that are transgender and they are amazing, loving, caring people and honestly if you didn't already know they were trans you wouldn't be able to tell by looking at them. Those in the LGBTQ+ community deserve rights too. Those rights you claim to be so passionate about don't only apply to people that look/think/love like you do. They apply to every single individual.

Except they do not. They face the threat of those on the political right trying to take their rights away on a daily basis. From attempting, still, to end gay marriage to states passing laws to keep transgender teenagers from getting their prescribed hormone medications. And don't get me started on states that do not let gay couples adopt children. There is a lot of work left to do. But you wouldn't know that since because it doesn't affect you, you don't give a flying fuck.
