When me and @Bitman went to Tokyo 🗼 we were going to the arcade/games thing in Tokyo tower but I'n the lobby there was an bitcoin ATM right there in one of Tokyo's most famous attractions

The ATM had a really good price $20k at the time (comparable with exchanges). Lots of KYC and app download needed tho.
The VR and AR games were the best. My son wiped the floor with me obviously...
Good entertainment for the watching crowd though!

Can’t wait to see the pics. Was Tokyo like an attack on the senses for you? How did you perceive it?
Image uploads are in the pipeline and will be added to SN news pretty soon, I believe.
For now:
  1. find an image upload service like nostr.build
  2. copy the url & paste the image url in your post or message
  3. I always tend to surround it in markdown formatting, but I’m not sure that last step is necessary.

not OP, but i've visited a couple of times. it's definitely cramped in terms of space and some neighborhoods (shibuy, akihabara) might fit that definition of, "an attack on the senses" because of the sheer volume of people and signage, but overall it's a very clean, modern metropolis.
i had an internship in chicago right after my first time in tokyo and the transition back was...horrendous. tokyo was way cleaner, safer, and quieter, and it made chicago seem like hell on earth.

I still can't understand how there's no trash cans - but also no trash anywhere.
Everywhere was completely spotless!
We loved it, and want to return, but next stop, Berlin (yes, I'm serious). I'm a big Eno, Iggy and Bowie fan - and love to look around the Bohemian and Bitcoin places.

Yeah the no trash cans thing was weird! I remember my friends and I kept talking about it. Our best guess was that the people just held onto it until they went home or something

Yep, everything but everything was wonderfully unique and different.
I had Blade Runner in my head whilst my son had Ghibli in his. Neither of us were at all disappointed. Beautiful people, beautiful places. We both had what we can only describe as a trip of a lifetime.
We ticked off everything on our 'Japanese bingo card' - except an employee wearing a store mascot costume. Lots of catchy ear-candy store tunes ringing in our ears months later though!

We knew we'd missed Ghibli Park and totally forgot to look out for the shop run by a dog and the giant tortoise being walked in the street.
Phew, and we saw all this in just over 2 weeks!
