You are very perceptive, Señor Ruby. My grudge predates Rudy, but that put me over the top. It began when I was a child. For some reason Notre Dame was adopted as New York City's college football team. Every Saturday the games were broadcast on local TV. I was more into college football as a kid. I liked Michigan and Oklahoma for some reason. Yet, I was stuck watching the Drinking Irish.
I never followed that closely but I always had a bit of an affinity for Michigan growing up. They weren't too far from Toronto, Wolverines was a cool nickname, they had an awesome stadium and the fab four in basketball. I also recall having an Arkansas razorbacks hat at some point and a UNLV Running Rebels shirt. Not sure why. I guess those teams were good at some point and someone gifted me the merch. I certainly didn't buy it. I did however buy a white sox hat when they rolled out the black and white theme Sox logo and the Sharks teal was all the rage when they came into the league so I had sharks jersey at one point.

I remember the Sharks frenzy. I think my Michigan thing was wrapped up in the Wolverine name too. My cousins lived in Columbus, Ohio. When I visited they were Buckeye crazy. I had to be contrary and root for Michigan, which caused fights. Huge rivalry there.

I have only ever owned 2 hockey jerseys in my life. An Edmonton Oilers Messier jersey and a blank Sharks jersey. Go figure since I was a Leafs fan for most of my life until I finally kicked that bad habit a decade ago.
