You need to have text marked/selected before you press it :)

Else, it does the same for me

We've implemented hotkeys for the SN markdown text input (so when you write posts and comments).

If you select text in your text input and then press CTRL+K, it will automatically format the text to [text]() and place your cursor between (). Then you can immediately paste your URL in there.

This makes creating markdown links faster and fixes the issue that you have to remember if it's []() or ()[]

reply

Good to know. Lately I got lazy and just paste the link.

For some reason, I really love to use markdown links. I think it makes me look professional, lol

Yes! When I first learned it I thought it was so cool. Made me feel like a grown up. I have to start doing it again.

ps. not sure what ctrl+alt+tab: real tab in markdown fields this is supposed to do but seems my OS wants to take over and ignore SN specific task

interesting, which browser do you use?

When I press ctrl+alt+tab, I get a tab. A single tab is the same as a code block:

with tab:

test

wrapped in ```

test

but with ctrl+alt+tab, you can indent your code multiple times:

		test

which isn't possible with only tab since that will select the next input (which is the reply button here)
