When I was very young my grandfather made me do a shot of whiskey before bed if I had a cold. I hated the taste. He said it would help me sleep. It did.

Me too. As a kid I was captivated by the whole malocchia thing. My grandmother would teach me how to defend against it, but the superstition dictated that it could only be taught on Christmas Eve.
