As for coincidence I think the common denominator is not legal but financial. Interest rates are up and attention is now focusing on profits which depend heavily on pricing power. If these companies can't monetize better they're going to quickly become unprofitable so here they're taking their medicine... and feeding it to consumers.
The party is coming to an end so it's time to get home and make sure you can get up and go to work and pay your rent and grocery bills.

I find it funny that there has been a 'Streisand Effect' in that people who weren't aware of these front-ends before the lawyers made their move are aware of these possibilities now.
