i dislike how he articulated this, not that i disagree with the general criticism that maximalism shifted from technological sophistication to a cultural identity thing. modern bitcoiners identifying themselves with tech is wierd and creepy. if bitcoin is part of “who you are” then you need to seriously overthink your life and touch grass.

what is irritating to me is, that nic has layed out a lot of the actual maximalist thought: settlement assurances etc. so people who are overly hostile therefore prove my point that it is no longer about “what we think” but “who we are”. be better than that. bitcoin is a tool not a personality or worldview.
