i dislike how he articulated this, not that i disagree with the general criticism that maximalism shifted from technological sophistication to a cultural identity thing. modern bitcoiners identifying themselves with tech is wierd and creepy. if bitcoin is part of “who you are” then you need to seriously overthink your life and touch grass.
what is irritating to me is, that nic has layed out a lot of the actual maximalist thought: settlement assurances etc. so people who are overly hostile therefore prove my point that it is no longer about “what we think” but “who we are”. be better than that. bitcoin is a tool not a personality or worldview.

Nic Carter lost his way a while ago. I wish him well but I have no interest in his thoughts. He picked a horse now make him ride it.

Nic Carter is simply dumb. And Bank of International Settlements is clever:
"Fragmentation means that [Bitcoin] cannot fulfil the social role of money. Ultimately, money is a coordination device that facilitates economic exchange. It can only do so if there are network effects: as more users use one type of money, it becomes more attractive for others to use it" (https://www.bis.org/publ/bisbull56.pdf)

Nic Carter is totally right. I am so grateful for him to speak out loud about this problem. We are lucky to have a few smart persons like him in the Bitcoin space.
Bitcoin maximalism is toxic and idiotic. Maxis are doing much more harm than good to Bitcoin. If only they could understand that...

Yeah, I understand how hard it is for small brains to figure that out, but you can love Bitcoin AND love Ethereum.

Poor Nic. His investments shouldn't be doing good.

He's getting choked 2.0 and vents against the maxis since they enjoy it.
